7th District Flashpoint: Vartan Suspends Campaign for Congress
Today, Greg Vartan, Summit Councilman and a former first responder, announced that he has made the decision to suspend his campaign for New Jersey’s 7th Congressional District. He issued the following statement:
“After careful consideration, I have made the difficult decision to suspend my campaign for Congress in New Jersey’s 7th Congressional District. I am extremely thankful to the incredible team of supporters, volunteers, endorsers, and contributors who have supported me throughout this journey. I want to thank all those who were willing to hear me and share their stories with me.
“I was raised in this district to believe if you can help, then you should. That’s been the guiding principle of my life and the reason why I originally entered this race. Especially after the primary election results this week, it is clear that Donald Trump will again be the Republican nominee for President and Tom Kean Jr. has proven he is a reliable vote for the MAGA extremist agenda. He supports those who seek to ban abortion nationwide and who undermine our elections. He has failed our district and we deserve better representation in Washington.
“It is essential that we elect a Democrat who understands the values and priorities of our district, is willing to stand up for them, and has the resources to win. Defeating Kean, who has no accomplishments and refuses to hold town halls with his constituents, has to be the top priority of all of my supporters and friends. So I urge them to unite behind the Democratic nominee. Our democracy hangs in the balance.”
“I will continue to do everything in my power to help elect Democrats up and down the ballot as we defend our country from MAGA Republicans like Tom Kean.”
Greg Vartan, at age 30, is a true lifelongpublic servant, and we shall be hearing about him for years to come. Thanks, Greg for all you have done and are doing for Summit. Phyllis
