ABC NJ Welcomes DeLuca as Director of Government Affairs
The Associated Builders and Contractors, New Jersey Chapter (ABC-NJ) today welcomed Derek DeLuca to the organization as Deputy Director of Government Affairs.
DeLuca brings experience in both the legislative process and as a staffer on state and county level political campaigns. He is a graduate of Monmouth University with a master’s degree in Criminal Justice with a concentration in Homeland Security and a bachelor’s degree in Criminal Justice.
Before joining the ABC-NJ team, he served as Legislative Director for Assemblywoman Serena DiMaso. As such, he helped craft Assemblywoman DiMaso’s legislative agenda, working with legislators and staff from both sides of the aisle to craft legislation beneficial to constituents of the 13th District, and the state overall. Prior to that, DeLuca was a policy analyst in the Assembly Republican office where he worked on a range of legislative issues from criminal justice to education to science and technology.
“I am excited to join the ABC-NJ team,” DeLuca said. “It is a wonderful opportunity to work with an organization that is a strong advocate for free enterprise, opportunity, and merit. ABC-NJ membership represents many outstanding businesses and true entrepreneurs, and I look forward to working with leaders at the state and local level to develop fair legislation and regulatory proposals which will not negatively impact but enhance the New Jersey merit construction industry.”
“We are pleased that Derek agreed to come aboard, he will be a great addition to our already stellar team,” said ABC NJ President Samantha DeAlmeida. “We are working hard in these challenging political and economic times, as we emerge from the pandemic, to make sure our member contractors have every chance to compete fairly in the marketplace. We are confident Derek’s knowledge of public policy, experience working in Trenton and bipartisan relationships will serve our organization well.”
DeLuca is a member of the Monmouth County and New Jersey Young Republicans. In his spare time, he also serves the community as a member of the Robertsville Volunteer Fire Company, the Monmouth County ACTS Advisory Council, and as a trustee of the Marlboro Township Fireman’s Relief Association.
