AFSCME New Jersey Council 63 Endorses Governor Phil Murphy for Re-Election

The overwhelming theme of the recent labor rally led by the AFSCME union and the CWA in Trenton was: Gov. Murphy is good and Senate President Sweeney is bad.

AFSCME New Jersey Council 63 today announced their endorsement of Governor Murphy for re-election to the governor’s office.

“Governor Murphy has proven himself to be a true advocate for labor,” Executive Director Steve Tully said. “He understands the value of the services that AFSCME members provide to people all across the state every single day. The Governor respects public employees and has pledged to support AFSCME members and ensure that the rights of public employees will continue to be protected while he is in office. AFSCME looks forward to continuing to work alongside the Governor to continue building a stronger, fairer New Jersey.”

During his tenure, Governor Murphy has supported working people by proposing fair state budgets, fully funding the state pension system, and signing the Workplace Democracy Enhancement Act. AFSCME joins several other labor unions across New Jersey, to endorse Governor Murphy for reelection.

“I’m grateful to the hardworking women and men of AFSCME for their support and endorsement,” said Governor Murphy. “AFSCME has been a strong ally in fighting for working families and ensuring that every worker is given their fair shake. Working together, we’re proving that we can do great things for all nine million New Jerseyans who call our state home.”

The New Jersey general election will be held on Tuesday, November 2, 2021. Please visit https://www.afscmenj.org/make-your-voice-heard for more information.
