On Saturday, October 27th, AFT President Randi Weingarten, head of the second largest nurses and educator union in the country, will join Congressional Candidate Mikie Sherrill to kick off a healthcare-focused neighborhood canvass with AFT members and workers from across the area.

Weingarten’s stop in New Jersey less than two weeks before Election Day comes after AFT launched a massive digital advertising campaign in support of Sherrill that condemns Republican Congressional Nominee Jay Webber for backing a GOP bill that would eliminate healthcare for people with preexisting conditions.

In kicking off the canvass and introducing Sherrill’s campaign for New Jersey’s 11th Congressional District, Weingarten will stress the importance of voting for candidates, like Sherrill, who support affordable health care, public education, workers’ rights and tackling student debt.
