Tim Alexander, Democratic Candidate for Congress in New Jersey’s 2nd Congressional District, announced this morning key endorsements from former State Assemblyman and former candidate for State Senate in New Jersey’s 2nd Legislative District, Vince Mazzeo, and Atlantic County Commissioner and former candidate for State Assembly in the 2nd Legislative District Caren Fitzpatrick.

These endorsements are emblematic of the deep support Alexander has built since announcing his campaign in March 2021, and follow his earlier endorsements by The Collective PAC, one of the nation’s largest political action committees dedicated to increasing Black political engagement, representation and power across all levels of government, and the Retail, Wholesale, and Department Store Union, who represent 100,000 workers across a wide variety of industries including 10,000 in New Jersey.

Joint Statement by Former Assemblyman Vince Mazzeo and Atlantic County Commissioner Caren Firtzpatrick:

“We are proud to endorse Tim Alexander for Congress in New Jersey’s 2nd Congressional District. It is past time for South Jersey to have a real advocate in Congress. Tim’s journey has always been rooted in public service, from a racially profiled youth and arrested for a crime he did not commit to entering law enforcement himself to try and change the system from the inside. He eventually retired from law enforcement for a legal career focused on Civil Rights litigation. This journey has taught him to analyze problems and develop practical, actionable solutions.

“One of the biggest issues our nation currently faces is the fight over voting rights. Tim believes that the right to vote should be cherished and defended from partisan attacks. He supports the John Lewis Voting Rights Act, which would protect the voting rights of communities of color and restore key parts of the Voting Rights Act of 1965. He also supports H.R.1 also known as the For The People Act, which aims to curb the outsized influence of monied interests in our elections, and stop egregious partisan gerrymanders. Tim knows that our Democracy only works if everyone can vote and hold their representatives accountable.
