Alexander Campaign for Congress Wins Atlantic County Line

Tim Alexander, Democratic Candidate for Congress in New Jersey’s 2nd Congressional District, won the Atlantic County Democratic Organization Line this afternoon after a vote at the Atlantic County Democrats Convention.

On the heels of a victory at the Ocean County Democratic Convention last weekend, and the awarding of the Gloucester County Democratic Organization Line earlier in the week, Alexander has reinforced his position as the frontrunner to take on U.S. Rep. Jeff Van Drew (R-2) in November.

Alexander will be running under the county slogan in every county that has chosen to award the line in this primary election.

Tim Alexander, Democratic Candidate for Congress in New Jersey’s 2nd Congressional District:

It is such an honor to have my name on the ballot under the slogan of the Atlantic County Democratic Organization. I do not take this vote of confidence lightly, and will continue to put in the hard work necessary to win in both June and November. I am so thankful for, and inspired by, the support building behind my campaign, and I look forward to working together with everyone to defeat Van Drew and provide real representation for the Second Congressional District.

A former County Detective and civil rights attorney, Alexander launched his campaign for New Jersey’s Second Congressional District back in March of last year.

Prior to becoming a civil rights attorney,  Alexander had a career in law enforcement.

“I’ve dedicated my entire adult life to serving this community as a law enforcement officer, a prosecutor, and now a civil rights attorney,” said the candidate in an emailed statement. “When Jeff Van Drew switched parties after being elected and pledged his undying loyalty to President Trump and the Republican party instead of this community – I could not sit on the sidelines any longer.

“My life experience is like so many others in South Jersey.  I know what it’s like to live paycheck to paycheck,  to work through sleepless nights with my wife, trying to figure out how to pay for our children’s education and medical care.  And even as an African American law enforcement officer, I’ve experienced firsthand being harassed, shot at, assaulted, and falsely accused by police.”
