Bayonne Mayor Davis Unveils His Second Ward Council Candidate

Davis and Weimmer

Mayor Jimmy Davis is announcing that Jacqueline Weimmer will run on his slate for Second Ward Council in the upcoming May municipal nonpartisan election. Weimmer, a dedicated community leader who works as the National Director of Special Needs Solutions at Comerica Bank, was born and raised in Bayonne and wants to work with Team Davis “to continue moving the community forward.”

“I could not be more excited to welcome Jacqueline Weimmer to Team Davis and for more of our residents to get to know her over the coming months,” said Mayor Davis. “Jackie is one of the kindest, most compassionate people I know and she has the type of record of helping those in need that we want from our elected officials here in Bayonne.”

Weimmer graduated from Lincoln Community School and Holy Family Academy before entering the workforce as a paralegal at a New York law firm. Through hard work and determination, she continued to advance her career in the legal and finance fields before eventually being appointed as National Director of Special Needs Solutions at Comerica Bank, where she helps people with disabilities and their families in all aspects of benefits eligibility and financial & life planning, while navigating the worlds of trust administration and finance. Weimmer volunteers her time as a court-appointed advocate for children in the foster care system through Hudson County CASA, helping them confront the immense challenges that come with placement in a new home and deal with past traumas. She lives in the Second Ward and has an adult daughter who grew up coming to the city to visit family and friends, and who also fell in love with all that Bayonne has to offer and chose to make it her forever home by purchasing a condo.

“Throughout my life I’ve always tried to do whatever I could to help people, from making sure that families whose members have varying abilities get the help they need to prosper in all aspects of their daily life, to helping seniors navigate the world of Social Security & Medicare benefits, to advocating for foster children and much more,” said Weimmer. “Running for City Council is the best way for me to further my service to the community and I’m ecstatic to join a team led by Mayor Davis, whose leadership has been so critical in moving our community forward. I would also like to commend Councilman Sal Gullace for his dedication to the Second Ward and wish him the best in the future, and I know that he will continue to serve our community in new ways.”

Weimmer is now the fourth announced member of the Team Davis slate, following Councilman at-Large Juan Perez, Third Ward Councilman Gary La Pelusa and First Ward Councilman Neal Carroll. Mayor Davis officially announced his re-election campaign recently and he will announce the final member of his slate as well as endorsements and other news in the coming weeks.
