“Progressive Ashley Bennett, who in 2017 defeated the Atlantic County GOP freeholder who mocked the Women’s March (on Facebook he asked “Will the woman’s protest be over in time for them to cook dinner?”), told The Nation she will declare her candidacy in a Friday press conference. She considers Van Drew’s opposition to impeachment a betrayal of his constituents, since he represents Atlantic City, “and there are literally people in his district who’ve been stiffed by Trump!”

This Friday, December 20^th Atlantic County Freeholder Ashley Bennett, District 3 will announce her entry in to the Democratic Primary for the privilege to represent the hard working people of NJ CD 2. “While we must address the betrayal of the hard working people of NJ CD 2 who voted in good faith to put Congressman Jeff Van Drew in office, actually watching him cast a NO vote during the Impeachment Vote tonight was the final insult to the proverbial injury,” said Freeholder Ashley Bennett.  The Faith Community, Family, Community Leaders and current constituents of Freeholder Bennett will gather with a sense of urgency at the historic Mount Zion Church of Pleasantville, NJ as Freeholder Bennett launches her campaign. “As an elected official who already represents part of NJ CD 2 (Districts in Egg Harbor Township and Hamilton Township), I understand the needs of the district and there is so much more we need to be working on to serve all of our constituents.
