Lisa Bhimani and Darcy Draeger, the Democratic Assembly candidates in the 25th District (LD25), recently released their initial TV commercial.

It’s a very positive spot that refers to “Dr, Bhimani.”  She is a doctor, but is not described as such in other campaign material.

In the spot, Bhimani talks about lowering health costs, so one supposes the “doctor’s title,”  is appropriate.

Draeger is described as a one-time Wall Street analyst who understands finances, and by extension, taxes. She now lives on a farm in Chester, a point emphasized by a shot of Draeger surrounded by a herd of sheep.

You have to wonder how long the Democrats will stick with this upbeat, very positive message.

This race may be attracting more political interest statewide because of Anthony M. Bucco’s intention to seek re-election to the Assembly at the same time he is expected to be picked at an upcoming GOP convention to replace his late father in the Senate. The plan would be for him to resign from the Assembly after the election.

The Bhimani-Draeger campaign was quick to denounce the arrangement, noting that Bucco will be running for an office he doesn’t intend to take.

Curiously, some Democrats statewide have shied away from publicly criticizing the plan, proving perhaps that both sides respect political manipulation simply because both sides do it.

Still, this figures to be a legitimate issue in District 25.  You can expect TV ads to get a bit more edgy as we move forward.
