Burlington Dems Back Steve Sweeney for Governor

Insider NJ's Fred Snowflack provides an analysis of the ongoing NJ 2020 budget struggle, where Gov. Phil Murphy is withholding $235 million in spending until he is sure the state could pay for it. Senate President Steve Sweeney now wants state Treasurer Elizabeth Muoio to comment on when the funds will be released.

Today at the Burlington County Democratic Convention, the Burlington County Committee voted to officially endorse Steve Sweeney for Governor. This win is proof that Steve’s message of making New Jersey more affordable is gaining more support. Steve has a proven record of getting things done, a devotion to addressing the cost-of-living, and a commitment to fighting for the rights of all New Jerseyans in the face of an administration in Washington more interested in tax cuts for the rich than funding essential programs like Medicare and SNAP.

Steve Sweeney issued the following statement:

“I want to thank all the dedicated Democratic Committee members who came out to participate in the convention. I’m deeply honored to have earned the endorsement of the Burlington County Democratic Committee.

“I know what it’s like to take on tough fights to deliver results for working- and middle-class families, and when I’m elected Governor, Burlington can count on me to make sure the county always has a seat at the table in Trenton. We’re going to lower costs and make our communities safer, and I’ll do everything in my power to hold Trump and his unelected billionaire friend Elon accountable for making lives miserable for everyday New Jerseyans.”
