(Gloucester Township, NJ) –The Camden County Department of Health is announcing five new deaths caused by novel coronavirus (COVID-19) in Camden County, as well as 165 additional confirmed cases of the disease. This brings the aggregate number of confirmed positive cases to 2,827 in Camden County today and 123 total fatalities.

The following information is currently available regarding these most recent deaths in Camden County:

Case 1: Female, 100s, Cherry Hill

Case 2: Female, 90s, Cherry Hill

Case 3: Male, 70s, Voorhees

Case 4: Female, 80s, Voorhees

Case 5: Female, 70s, Voorhees

“This is another heartbreaking day as we announce five additional deaths caused by coronavirus in Camden County. At this time, we turn our thoughts and prayers to the families who have lost loved ones in past weeks, as well as with those who are currently working toward recovery,” said Freeholder Director Louis Cappelli, Jr. “We believe today’s spike in cases to be largely attributable to expanded testing taking place in long-term care facilities. However, this underscores why we must remain vigilant in this fight. The past week has shown real progress as we battle to flatten the curve, but we cannot lose sight of the fact that this virus has an unprecedented ability to spread through interpersonal contact. We must continue to stay home and to social distance until it is safe to relax these restrictions.”

The Department of Health is also announcing 165 additional positive cases of novel coronavirus (COVID-19) identified in Camden County. Trace investigations are being facilitated with the patients and remain ongoing.

In addition, the county Department of Health is also announcing 519 confirmed cases have occurred out of the aggregate case load of 2,827 in our 56 long-term care facilities. At this current time 83 deaths have been reported from these facilities from our 123 total fatalities countywide.
