Camden County Reports 33 New COVID-19 Cases; Total 117 Cases, 1 Fatality as of Friday

(Gloucester Township, NJ) –The Camden County Department of Health is announcing 33 additional positive case of novel coronavirus (COVID-19) identified in Camden County. Trace investigations are being facilitated with the patients and remain ongoing.

“This is the largest single day increase in cases we have seen in Camden County to date, and it underscores the reality that we are only at the beginning of this crisis and we need everyone to keep social distancing and keep staying at home as much as possible,” said Freeholder Director Louis Cappelli, Jr. “We cannot be lulled into thinking that we can put a band-aid on this to make it go away. We have to be prepared for an extended fight. Preparation and a consistent response are how we break the back of this virus and win this war. I want to thank everyone who has been staying home and encourage everyone who hasn’t taken those recommendations seriously to do so immediately.”

This brings the aggregate number of confirmed positive cases to 117 in Camden County today and one total fatality. At this point in time about 20% of patients inflicted by COVID-19 are being treated by one of three county health care systems.

The county Health Department is currently working with the NJDOH to trace close contacts of these newest cases. The investigations are still ongoing, and we will update the public with new developments as the information is gathered by our investigators.

The statewide COVID-19 case count as of 1pm Saturday March 28th has topped 10,000, and now stands at 11,124 and a total of 140 fatalities, an increase of 32 deaths in the past 24 hours.
