The first day on the job in Congress is like the first day of school – sort of.

Your dorm room, or rather your office, is still being set up and well wishers keep dropping by.

But like a student buying books there are things to do for a new member of Congress. And so at around 10 a.m. today, Mikie Sherrill left her office in the Longworth Office Building.

Yes, she said, it is all beginning to seem real. After all, she was wearing an official House of Representatives badge. But there was more.

“I have to get my pin’ “ she said.

Indeed. The official congressional pin. That will make it all officially official.
