CD-2 Flashpoint: GOP Chairman Davis Reasserts Support for Grossman, Slaps Turkavage

Davis

In the aftermath of Robert “Turk” Turkavage’s bail out on CD-2 Republican nominee Seth Grossman, Atlantic County GOP Committee Chairman Keith Davis stood by his candidate.

“Turkavage is nominally a Republican,” Davis told InsiderNJ. “He’s a Republican the same way David Gergen is on CNN.”

“Look,” the chairman added in reference to Grossman’s NAACP debate comments, “he’s wrong, and now we now he’s wrong.”

Last night, Grossman suggested Democrats were behind the threats to the political enemies of President Donald J. Trump.

But today law enforcement authorities took into custody Cesar Sayoc, an avowed Trump backer.

Davis condemned what he described as the actions of the “lunatic fringe, not representative of anything in the Republican Party any more than the guy who shot Congressman  [Steve] Scalise represents Democrats. We have crazy people in this country, and the rhetoric has to calm down on all sides.”

Davis stayed focused on Turkavage.

“There is no significance to Bob Turkavage,” said the GOP chairman.

As for Grossman, he said he remains supportive.

“The Atlantic County Republicans just made a contribution to Seth; we gave to the fullest extent under federal law,” Davis said.  “I hope Seth is successful.  I hope Bob Hugin is successful. I know our freeholder candidates are going to be successful.”

  1. The Atlantic County Republicans have shown their true colors by continuing to support the backward thinking Grossman. Shameful!
