CD11 Flashpoint: EMILY’s List Backs Sherrill to Take on Frelinghuysen

Sherrill
EMILY’s List, the nation’s largest resource for women in politics, today endorsed Mikie Sherrill for Congress in New Jersey’s 11th Congressional District.
A former Navy helicopter pilot, federal prosecutor and mother of four, Sherrill has so far raised $245,000 in her quest to take on incumbent U.S. Rep. Rodney Frelinghuysen (R-11).
“Mikie Sherrill is an exemplary public servant, and EMILY’s List is proud to endorse her in New Jersey’s 11th Congressional District.” said EMILY’s List President Stephanie Schriok. “From her time in the U.S. Navy as a helicopter pilot flying missions in the Middle East and Europe to her tenure in the U.S. Attorney’s office prosecuting federal cases to her role as a mother of four, Mikie has shown grace under pressure, commitment to her values, and passion for justice. She is precisely the type of leader we need in Congress, defending against Donald Trump’s attacks on our democracy and fundamental rights—and she is already hard at work building the campaign organization it takes to win.”

In response to the news of the endorsement, Sherrill said, “I am honored and excited to receive the endorsement of EMILY’s List and their 5,000,000+ members across the country. I am ready to join the ranks of the incredible women who have gone on to serve in public office due to EMILY’s List’s early support. With so much at stake, we need leaders who will fight for our future, fight for quality and affordable health care, fight to improve our economy through smart investments in infrastructure and education and who will fight to make sure that every constituent is heard.”

EMILY’s List joins VoteVets, New Politics and Congressman Seth Moulton in their support of Sherrill’s run to replace 22-year Republican incumbent Frelinghuysen.
