CD11 Flashpoint: The de Neufville Surprise (UPDATED)

Capitol, the target of both CD3 candidates.

Will a last minute candidate muddy the waters in the District 11 Republican primary?

Perhaps.

Four days before next Monday’s filing deadline, reports are circulating that Peter de Neufville may enter a race that now is basically a two-man contest between Jay Webber and Antony Ghee.

As is often the case when names surface, solid information is scant.

There is a John de Neufville, the potential candidate’s father, living in Mendham. He said in a brief phone conversation on Thursday that he didn’t know his son’s plans. but that he would get him a message. So far, Peter has not responded.

A brief Internet search shows that a Peter de Neufville is an adjunct senior fellow with the Center for a New American Security, a Washington think tank with the stated goal of developing “strong, pragmatic and principled national security and defense policies that promote and protect American interests and values.”

As the race has been unfolding, Ghee has organizational support in Essex and Passaic counties while Webber, a state assemblyman from Morris Plains, figures to be strong in Morris County. which represents about 60 percent of the district. But Morris Republicans do not have a “county line,” which theoretically could give Ghee a chance to pick up some support from Morris primary voters. Keep in mind that Ghee does have the backing of former Morris County Republican Chair John Sette and Assemblyman Betty Lou DeCroce, who is from Webber’s own 26th District.

If another candidate gets into the race with Morris ties, it could theoretically siphon off more support that would have gone to Webber.

But that debate will have to wait until de Neufville’s campaign develops, or even officially comes about. We’ll know for sure at 4 p.m. Monday.
UPDATE
An InsiderNJ call to was returned by Brian Murray, the former spokesman for former Governor Chris Christie. “Peter” is considering a run, Murray said.

One response to “CD11 Flashpoint: The de Neufville Surprise (UPDATED)”

  1. Smells like a rotten Peter Murphy betrayal of the GOP voters, Yet again! My belief is Peter Murphy solicits leftist or unknown people such a Mr. Ghee, (who voted for Bill Clinton, Obama and Hillary Clinton) who is now on the Peter Murphy PCRRO Republican ticket.

Peter Murphy seems to deliberately puts forward candidates that will split the party votes or lose the election outright, thus helping out his Democrat buddies. He’s buddied-up to Pascrell, Phil Murphy and even the Democrat Sheriff of Bergen County & John McCann. McCann stuck by the Bergen County Sheriff after he switched to a Democrat for the 2016 ballot. Stuck loyal to the Democrat Sheriffs until he decided or was pursaded to run for congress, split yet another GOP ticket with two candidates for same office in another race! McCann now claims to be Republican… but “only in late 2017 so he could run for Congress!” Another Peter Murphy pick that voters should DEFEAT along with Ghee!

I’m voting for Jay Webber, District 11, a true conservative Republican who been recognized as a “Taxpayer Hero” while serving in the NJ Assembly and I know confidently he will serve those he represents in District 11 in Washington just as well.

I’m donating and supporting Steve Lonegan, another great conservative who also will work hard for the taxpayers of NJ Congressional District 5…

Both Jay Webber and Steve Lonegan will serve NJ very well in Washington.. So everyne in those Districts please “Get Out to Vote in your Districts June 5th… Primary Election Day!” Lets give these two men our votes and the Victory … so they can go on to serve us in Washington come November’s election!!
