In the seven-candidate Democratic Primary field, each hopeful has ties to veteran Democratic Party operatives.

Here are some of them:

Dave Pringle of Cranford: Pat Politano also of Cranford, whose string of successes include wins in Union County and Marlboro Twp. (he advised Jon Hornik in the mayor’s 2007 run).

Goutam Jois of Summit: Joey Novick of Flemington (pictured, top), who worked on Rush Holt for Congress and later worked for Congressional candidate Upendra Chivukula.

Peter Jacob of Springfield: Barry Brendel. Brendel goes way back, to Gary Hart’s 1984 Campaign for President in New Jersey. For years he helped the Elizabeth Board of Ed guys and also advised Hoboken Councilwoman Beth Mason.

Lisa Mandelblatt of Westfield: Bruno Tedeschi. Veteran ranch hand Tedeschi of Jaffe Communications is handling PR for the Westfield Congressional candidate.

Linda Weber of Berkeley Heights: Tara Dowdell and Justin Shoham. Professional communicator Dowdell used to work for Frank Pallone and Jon Corzine. A veteran of the Apprentice, starring Donald Trump. Shoham is the former Chief of staff to Assemblyman Raj Mukherji (D-33).
