TRENTON – Having labored behind the scenes for her, Essex County Democratic Committee Chairman Leroy Jones today doubled down on his public support for Assemblywoman Sheila Oliver (D-34) for LG.

“A no-brainer,” the dapper county party chairman told InsiderNJ when asked about a decision that will ultimately be rendered by Democratic gubernatorial nominee Phil Murphy.

InsiderNJ reported FIRST on Oliver as an LG option back in April, explored it here, fleshed it out here, considered it here, and from that initial point forward, her strongest adherents – Jones among them – have pressed for the former speaker to once again don statewide wings, this time on a general election ticket with Murphy.

“No disrespect to any of the other candidates, who all possess their own unique qualifications and skills, however, Sheila is the whole package,” said the chairman.
