Members of the Trenton City Council are suing Lt. Governor Shelia Oliver, commissioner of the state Department of Community Affairs and Trenton Mayor Reed Gusciora for stepping over the budget they say they prepared and ramrodding instead with a budget favored by the mayor.

Councilwomen Marge Caldwell-Wilson, Kathy McBride, and Robin Vaughn charge that the DCA usurped the capital city’s $215 million budget and replaced it with a budget modification initially submitted by the mayor, which proposed a local tax increase of 0.114 cents.
