CNN’s Elie Honig Discusses The Prosecutor’s Code & Bill Barr with Steve Adubato

Recorded on 7/20/21, Steve Adubato sits down with Elie Honig, Senior Legal Analyst, CNN, Former Federal and State Prosecutor, and Author, “Hatchet Man,” to discuss his book and the meaning behind the “prosecutor’s code,” the role of the Attorney General and former Attorney General Bill Barr’s impact and legacy on the office.

Elie Honig explains what the “prosecutor’s code” is and how he believes Bill Barr broke the prosecutor’s code. He adds, “When the Big Lie was being created by Donald Trump and spread, Bill Barr was one of the main people fanning those flames. He went on national TV, he went on national radio, and he said there’s this massive threat of election fraud.” He adds that he thinks Bill Barr’s motivations changed over time, initially he was hoping to get Donald Trump re-elected.

Honig discusses the rule of law with Steve Adubato, mentioning that, “Bill Bar enabled and protected Donald Trump in what, I argue, are dishonest and counter-to-the-law ways. Start with the Mueller Report…Bill Barr single-handedly enabled Donald Trump to escape the consequences of the Mueller Report…by lying to us about it.” Honig hopes Congress and the DOJ understand their roles and get back to their basic responsibilities. They do not represent the President and that they must tell the truth, something Bill Barr did not always do. Also, Honig hopes the public will come to understand how destructive Bill Barr’s tenure was.
