Corrado on a CD11 Run: ‘I Am Considering it’
Senator Kristin Corrado (R-40) has not ruled out a run for the Congressional seat that U.S. Rep. Rodney Frelinghuysen (R-11) will leave behind at the end of this year.
“I am considering it,” she told InsiderNJ.
The former Passaic County clerk, Corrado won her senate seat last year when she beat down Bergen County GOP Chair Paul DiGaetano in the Republican Primary, then ran over her general election opposition.
In the aftermath of Frelinghuysen’s announcement that he won’t run again, Corrado said she will take the next number of days to have conversations with her family about the possibility of a run.
She also mentioned whom she would support if she does not seek the seat.
“If it’s not me I think it should be Al Barlas,” she said, referring to the Republican Chairman of Esex County, who has impressed insiders once again with his gamesmanship in the face of a fairly politically mangled Morris County.
A source earlier today told InsiderNJ that he hopes Corrado runs and becomes the congressperson so that Barlas can succeed her as senator. “Al is just starting a new family, and he should stay close to home as the senator,” the source told InsiderNJ.
