Coughlin Announces Assembly Committee Members and Co-Counsel to the New Jersey Legislative Select Oversight Committee

Speaker Craig Coughlin (D-19) today announced the members of the Assembly who will join the joint Select Oversight Committee in conjunction with the state senate. Coughlin also announced Joseph A. Hayden, Jr. to serve as co-counsel to the committee.

I thank the members of the Assembly on the oversight committee and Mr. Hayden for their service,” said Speaker Coughlin. “I am certain a fair and just process will transpire as we examine the issues related to hiring practices and systemic issues within current policies related to sexual assault and misconduct allegations.”

Hayden is currently partner at Pashman Stein Walder Hayden. Mr. Hayden’s legal career began as a law clerk to the Chief Justice of the New Jersey Supreme Court. He was then appointed Deputy Attorney General in the Organized Crime and Special Prosecution Section of the Division of Criminal Justice.  Hayden was also the founder and first President of the Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers of New Jersey (ACDLNJ).

Hayden is the recipient of the Trial Bar award for Professional Excellence from the Trial Attorneys of New Jersey and the Justice William J. Brennan Award from the Association of the Federal Bar of New Jersey. He resides in Hoboken with his wife.

Hayden will be paid $350 an hour, the same hourly rate as Senate co-counsel Michael Critchley.
