Cumberland County Young Republicans Announce New Chairman

The Cumberland County Young Republican Organization Executive Committee announced that it has selected Matthew Johnson as the group’s new Chairman.  He will take over for outgoing Chairman William Gruccio, who will continue to provide counsel to the organization as Chairman Emeritus.

Gruccio served as Chairman since 2015 when he spearheaded an effort with the help of Cumberland County Republican Chairman Michael Testa to relaunch the dormant group.  Since that time, the group has been meeting regularly, helping to support republican candidates and doing positive work in the community such as organizing holiday toy drives.

Matt Johnson is a graduate of Columbia College with a bachelor’s degree in political science.  He is currently the Director of Operations for Johnson Design Associates, a civil engineering firm that specializes in septic system design, and he owns JVI Business Strategies, a consulting firm that helps companies reduce overhead and streamline marketing functions.  Matt is also active in the community, having served as Chairman of the Main Street Vineland Organization Team and as a mentor for Big Brothers Big Sisters of Cumberland and Salem Counties.  He is also a former member of the Landis Theater Foundation Board.

“Matt brings energy, new ideas, and dedication to helping us continue to build this organization and elect Republicans in Cumberland County and beyond,” Gruccio said.  “He has worked diligently for local candidates over the years, and has hit the ground running as Chairman, already organizing a fundraiser in support of the organization and 2020 candidates.”

“I am excited for the opportunity to serve as Chairman of the Cumberland County Young Republicans,” Johnson said.  “I am thankful for the trust the members have placed in me, and I look forward to working with the municipal and county chairs, elected officials, and especially the voters, to help our party and our diverse communities be successful.”

“I also want to thank outgoing Chairman Will Gruccio for his service over the past five years.  Through his hard work, he has reinvigorated the organization by getting more young conservatives involved locally, and he has made valuable connections to leaders throughout the state.  I have big shoes to fill, and I look forward to calling on Will for advice over the coming months,” Johnson concluded.

The Cumberland County Young Republican Organization is a group of open-minded millennials that encourages connections between young professionals.  The organization offers a safe and supportive network in which community members under 40 years of age can ask questions, express their opinions, and learn more about what the Cumberland County Regular Republican Organization is doing throughout the area.
