Democratic State Committee Tries for Shades of Camelot

Atlantic City used to be that big fight atmosphere town.

Tonight, Democrats provided a fight without atmospherics.

Or maybe it was big warm body atmospherics without those rival moving parts to make a real fight.

It was like all politics.

People talk.

That’s the event.

The Democratic State Committee moved that scheduled county party chairs soiree from six to 8;30 p.m., as they went to work on Union COunty Democratic Committee Chairman Nick Scutari.

Scutari’s also a senator, so it’s likely he got that pleading phone call from someone urging him to get to Bergen.

Scutari must have felt like plastic man tonight.

Anyway, people attended.

There was U.S. Rep. Frank Pallone (D-60 just sauntering past here at Harrah’s.

But no one would mistake Governor Phil Murphy’s first fall state committee bash – at least early – for a recreation of Kennedy’s Camelot.

More later.
