DOL Tells State Employees To File For Unemployment Post-Shutdown

A notice on the Department of Labor website is directing state workers who were furloughed during the three-day shutdown last weekend through Tuesday morning that they should file for unemployment benefits.

The notice reads: “State employees who were not paid as a result of the government shutdown must file for benefits online by Saturday, July 8 or by telephone by Friday, July 7 at 4:30pm or they will not be eligible to receive benefits for the week of July 2.”
