Don’t Forget Me: Cobert Reminds Voters that He’s a CD11 Dem, Too

Retired Navy helicopter pilot Mikie Sherrill isn’t the only Democrat who wants to occupy the seat being vacated by U.S. Rep. Rodney Frelinghuysen (R-11). There’s also counselor Tamara Harris, who has $455,329 cash on hand compared to $821,786 for Sherrill, according to the latest Federal Election Commission filing report.

And then there’s Mitchell Cobert, a Morristown resident since 1982 who plans as a candidate to highlight his work as Assistant Attorney General, when he prosecuted securities fraud.

Cobert – $33,000 cash on hand – served as legal counsel to the business consortium that formed the Morristown Partnership, which supports local businesses and has been an integral part of Morristown’s growth in recent years. As president of the Morris County Bar Association, Cobert worked with the judiciary when they established Drug Court to help people with minor drug offenses work to clear their records and become productive members of the community.

Cobert is a current board member and past president of the Morris County Bar Foundation which sponsors a program for battered women and conducts legal clinics for veterans, immigrants and working families. He has also worked to protect the rights of the disabled and was a member of an ethics committee at ARC. He has been a member of the Editorial Board of The New Jersey Lawyer Magazine for the past 29 years.
