Drummed out of Office, Friendly Scott Garrett Surfaces in D.C.

Run out of office last year, former U.S. Rep. Scott Garrett (R-5) showed up in the House offices yesterday in D.C. amid rumors of him trying to secure financial support for a 2018 run.

His appearance triggered questions here, namely will Bergen Republicans give him the line, or make the same mistake they made in 2002 by allowing more then one Bergen candidate to run, thereby giving the advantage to the Sussex-based Garrett.

Mired in controversy after he said he didn’t want to fork over money to the National Republican Congressional Committee (NRCC) because they fund gays who run for office, Garrett lost last year to attorney Josh Gottheimer by four points.
