As reported first by InsiderNJ, Diane Gutierrez-Scacceti, a member of Governor-elect Phil Murphy’s transition team and the former Executive Director and Chief Executive Officer of Florida’s Turnpike Enterprise, will serve as commissioner of the Department of Transportation.

Murphy will make the announcement official today.

A source with some knowledge of the back drama in Murphy World told InsiderNJ that Gutierrez-Scaccetti finally outdueled Joe Fiordaliso, Jr. for the job.

The son of Board of Public Utilities Commissioner Joe Fiordaliso, Fiordaliso Jr. is the founder and chief executive officer of North Star Strategies.
