Dunn Guts through COVID-19 Ordeal

Aura Dunn

Aura Dunn, the new assemblywoman from the 25th District, assumed a few weeks ago that she just had a bad headache. She hoped a long walk might clear things up. It didn’t.

And when Dunn had aches and pains and a fever the next day, she was tested for COVID-19. The results were positive.

The good news is that Dunn’s case didn’t require hospitalization and that she is now recovered.

She talked about her ordeal in a Facebook post earlier this week.

Dunn said she was quarantined in her home in Mendham and now that she’s recovered, she was looking forward to her first family dinner in about two weeks. She also expressed appreciation for testing sites in
Morris County and to James Gannon, the county sheriff, for helping the sites run smoothly.

Dunn, a former aide to then-Congressman Rodney Frelinghuysen, got to the Assembly after the passing last fall of Sen. Anthony R. Bucco.

Anthony M. Bucco ultimately replaced his father in the Senate and Dunn now occupies the younger Bucco’s old Assembly seat from the mostly Morris Couny district.  Both Bucco and Dunn are running in a special election this fall to stay in their respective seats.

The Democratic candidates are Rupande Mehta for Senate and Darcy Draeger for Assembly.
