Durr Wins; District on Pace for Durr v. Burzichelli

Durr

In a supposed donnybrook, incumbent state Senator Ed Durr (R-3) tonight defeated Assemblywoman Beth Sawyer.

The desperate dredging of drama statewide in a moribund cycle fixed some late money on LD-3.

The storyline?

Bright red Republicans in South Jersey – not more than two years into running the region – had resorted to cannibalism.

But Sawyer couldn’t get past her friend turned political enemy, as the nonunion trucker who ran over Trenton titan Steve Sweeney and shocked the state in 2021, had a fairly easy night.

Durr looked strong finally amid the surge of assumed drama, as he prepared for a tough general election in this district where he dethroned a senate president two years ago.

Former Assemblyman John Burzichelli (D-3) also appeared to have won his Democratic Primary tonight, which sets up his post-Sweeney showdown with Durr.
