ELEC: Hugin Footprint Significant as Fed Cash Profusion Augments County Party Organizations

Ocean County Republicans try to make sense of what happened and what to do next after the conviction of GOP Chairman George Gilmore on three counts of federal tax evasion.

The GOP’s big benefactor is Republican US Senate Candidate Bob Hugin, according to this morning’s Election Law Enforcement Commission (ELEC). The former business executive who already has spent $36 million of his personal wealth on his bid to oust incumbent Democratic US Senator Bob Menendez, has sent $37,000 checks to all 21 Republican county committees while also reimbursing them for some rental payments, bringing his total county party payout so far to $788,310.
