ELEC Zaps Newark Mayor Baraka with Complaint
The state Election Law Enforcement Commission (ELEC) today filed a complaint against Newark Mayor Ras Baraka containing numerous allegations, including 188 occasions of failing to disclose some $160,000 worth of contributions, 20 instances of late reporting totaling $29,045, 161 cases of incorrect or incomplete information adding up to $155,172, and 12 “excessive” contributions totaling $16,344.
All tolled it’s $361,168 of bungled ELEC contributions reporting laid at the feet of the mayor, who’s up for reelection next year.
Baraka also failed to disclose $1,282 in expenses, racked up $6,706 worth of late expense reports, and filed $26,360-worth of incorrect or incomplete expense information for a total of $34,348 bungled reporting on the expenses side.

We are taking this matter very seriously and are currently reviewing this complaint with our legal counsel.”
