An Elected Leader Showed Up. His Name is Joe Biden

While lame duck President Donald Trump hid in the Oval Office and took to his favorite communication device to try to stir an insurrection, President-elect Joe Biden went out in front of the TV cameras and issued a statement amid an unprecedented mob breach of the United States Capitol.

Biden called on Trump to undo the damage he did when the lame duck encouraged his supporters to commit anarchy, sparked when Vice President Mike Pence publicly broke with him, saying in a letter to Congress that he cannot submit to demands to overthrow the results of the election, according to CNN.

The President-elect lamented the scenes of rioting bedlam at the United States Capitol, which prompted elected officials to shelter in place.

“Our democracy is under unprecedented assault. We must step up,” said Biden. “This is the United States of America. So President Trump, step up.”

Still crying about “a fraudulent election,” Trump made a statement at almost 4:30 p.m. EST on the heels of Biden.

“We had an election that was stolen from us,” Trump said. “It was a landslide election but you have to go home now.”
