Responding to calls by the Burlington County GOP for him to step down as a candidate for Westampton Twp. Committee, Karl Eversmeyer defiantly hit back.

“Does this mean I can stop putting out their signs??” he asked InsiderNJ, in a response to a Facebook message after party chairman Sean Earlen said the party organization had withdrawn its support from Eversmeyer following news about his having photographed himself on Facebook in blackface.

Battleground Republican candidates Assemblyman Ryan Peters (R-8) and Sheriff Jean Stanfield (who is running for the second Assembly seat) joined Earlen in putting distance on the embattled local GOp candidate.
