The countywide war spilled into West New York tonight, where the commissioners backing Hudson County Executive Tom DeGise dealt a punishing blow to West New York Mayor Felix Mayor, who’s aligned with Senator Brian P. Stack (D-33) and Jersey City Mayor Steven Fulop against DeGise’s 2019 reelection.

Commissioners Cosmo Cirillo (a Senator Nick Sacco functionary), Gabe Rodriguez and Margarita Guzman yanked Roque ally Commissioner Susan Colacurcio from the powerful position of director of finance and in her place installed Rodriguez.

Rodriguez got to the dance as a stout ally of U.S. Rep. Albio Sires (D-8), whose political fate hangs in the balance with the Stack-Fulop-discarded DeGise.

A Roque ally, Colacurcio occupied the potent finance position as an acknowledgement of Roque’s upper-hand.

If anything happened to the mayor, she’d be in charge.

Now it’s Rodriguez – in self-protection mode – who moved into that job, jettisoning Colacurcio as payback for Roque bailing on DeGise-Sires.
