Final Decision: ELEC Requires DiVincenzo to Pay $20K for Violations

DiVincenzo

The State Election Law Enforcement Commission today rendered a final decision in the case of Essex County Executive Joe DiVincenzo.

Having received payment in the amount of $20,446.60 on November 20, 2017, prior to Final Decision action on a longstanding case involving bungled ELEC reports, misfilings and failures to report, the Commission reduced the joint penalty (to DiVincenzo and Jorge Martinez) of $25,558.25 to $20,446.60, pursuant to N.J.A.C. 19:25-17.3C(e).

Martinez served as campaign treasurer to DiVincenzo, who’s up for reelection next year.

The case emerged when ELEC cited the executive for failure to report expenditure information and impermissible personal use of campaign funds in the 2010 general election and the 2014 primary election.
