Fiocchi Eyeing State Senate Run in District 1
Former Assemblyman Sam Fiocchi (R-1) of Vineland is contemplating a run for the state senate in the aftermath of U.S. Rep.-elect Jeff Van Drew’s (D-1) federal victory.
“Everything’s on the table,” said Fiocchi, when asked about whether he would consider a future ticket alliance and the possibility of another run for the assembly.
But right now he’s looking hard at the state senate.
Fiocchi first ran for the assembly in 2011 and lost.
He won a 1st District seat in 2013, then lost in 2015. He ran for Congress earlier this year in the Republican Primary.
Other potential GOP candidates for Van Drew’s senate seat include Cumberland County GOP Chairman Mike Testa and former Senator Nick Asselta’s chief of staff Victoria Lods.
Assemblyman Bob Andrzejczak (D-1) is the favorite Democrat for the seat.
