Fmr. Gov. Tom Kean Discusses the Capitol Riots and Our Divided Nation with Steve Adubato

Recorded on 3/23/21, Steve Adubato is joined by Tom Kean Sr., Former Governor of New Jersey (R), to talk about the 9/11-style commission that should be created in light of the January 6th riots, how divided we are as a country, and whether or not the Republican Party has become the Trump Party.

Gov. Tom Kean Sr. says there are lots of questions that need to be answered regarding the January 6th Capitol Riots. Questions such as: Was this planned ahead of time? Was it spur of the moment? Governor Kean was Chair of the 9/11 Commission that was established in 2002, and believes there should be a similar-style commission created in light of the Riots. “When we did our report, we were going into a re-election for then President Bush…there were a lot of conspiracy theories out there and problems. We got it done then, we can do it now,” he adds.

Many say that the Republican Party has become the Trump Party. Kean explains, “If Republicans like that, who put personalities or party or whatever, ahead of the country, [they] can’t be put on this commission. That’s all.” He adds that the Commission will will only work if it is bi-partisan, “You’ve got to have people who are willing to work with other people and understand the country is more important than whatever party you belong to.”
