IN FOCUS: Biden Campaign Turns to Bloomfield Native Smith for National Women’s Vote

Carissa Smith

Bloomfield native Carissa Smith joined the Biden for President Campaign as National Women’s Vote Director, one of several key hires by the campaign this month.

A graduate of Bloomfield High School, Smith got her start in politics by interning for Senator Bob Menendez (D-NJ) while in college. Previously, she worked at the House Majority Oversight and Reform Committee, and was Miss New Jersey Cherry Blossom 2019.

“Biden is the best candidate for president because of his long standing record of public service and advocacy,” she told InsiderNJ.

In her work Smith must form multifaceted, diverse coalitions and engage women voters, women elected officials, volunteers and national women’s groups. Her goal in this role is to make sure that women everywhere know “Biden has dedicated his career to women’s rights and equality.”
