Many use the annual Chamber of Commerce train trip to Washington as a time to advertise one thing or another.

Take Adrian Mapp, the mayor of Plainfield.

He was delighted to tell everyone who passed by his seat that he was indeed the mayor and that great things are  happening in his town.

Like what?

“Plainfield is a very diverse town and we are open for business,” said Mapp, who’s been mayor since 2014.

Things are much better than they were three decades ago, the mayor said.
