Former state Senator Bernard Kenny (D-33) of Hoboken this afternoon shared with InsiderNJ his thoughts on the best big pure political talents he encountered during his years in politics.

“I met three major state Democratic Party political talents in my career,” said Kenny, who served in the state senate from 1993 to 2008. “All could do five things over a sustained period of time.”

Kenny listed those five traits as follows:

  1. Lead: Get elected and get others elected

2. Organize from the ground up in detail

3. Raise $

4. Give a speech and message

5. Master the arts of government

The three who met that criteria and then some Kenny identified as former Hudson County Democratic Organization Chairman Bob Janiszewski, former HCDO Chairman (and sitting U.S. Senator) Bob Menendez, and former Middlesex County Democratic Chairman (and former senate president) John Lynch.
