Garden State Equality Backs Eustace for LD38 Senate Seat

Garden State Equality Executive Director Christian Fuscarino this morning issued a statement of support for the LD38 senate candidacy of Assemblyman Tim Eustace (D-38).

“Garden State Equality is proud to support Assemblyman Tim Eustace (D-38) to succeed State Senator Bob Gordon,” said Fuscarino. “All across our country, LGBT representation in politics is few and far between. Even in New Jersey, a state with one of the largest LGBT populations, our entire legislature only consists of two openly-LGBT legislators and they are both in the Assembly. It is not every day that New Jersey has the opportunity to seat an LGBT State Senator and it is surely not something we pass up.

“Assemblyman Eustace is the perfect choice for Senate given his seniority and experience in the legislature. We have followed him closely as he chaired the Health Committee and know first hand the type of leadership we are getting,” he added. “In a time when the Trump administration is stripping away LGBT representation at every level within reach, New Jersey needs to lead the nation by showing positive inclusion.”

Eustace is vying for the seat with his slate mate, Assemblyman Joe Lagana (D-38), but sources say it will be a heavy lift. Lagana has a strong organizational edge as the party attempts to resolve the situation sooner rather later.

Garden State Equality is New Jersey’s largest LGBT organization, representing nearly 150,000 members and all those who care about LGBT equality.
