Garden State Equality Endorse Valerie Huttle for NJ Senate
If there were a Mt Rushmore in NJ for straight allies of LGBTQ equality, Assemblywoman Valerie Vainieri Huttle’s face would figure prominently. Assemblywoman Huttle is battling to replace outgoing Senator Loretta Weinberg, another icon for LGBTQ liberty.
Today Garden State Equality Action Fund Board endorsed Assemblywoman Huttle for State Senate in LD 37, a Bergen County-based district that includes Teaneck, Englewood, and Hackensack.
From GSE:
Garden State Equality believes there is no better ally, no better champion of equality for the LGBTQ community to carry on the work and legacy of Senator Loretta Weinberg than Valerie Vainieri Huttle. Assemblywoman Vainieri Huttle is not just our friend, but she has been the prime sponsor of many recent LGBTQ bills and her support for our community dates back to a time when associating with the LGBTQ community was not necessarily viewed as the right thing to do and in fact even shunned.
We acknowledge that normally we do not endorse in elections before the primary, but the Assemblywoman’s dedication to improving the lives of LGBTQ people is so clear and so constant that it is simply impossible for us not to shout loudly and proudly that we want to see her in the State Senate! We encourage all allies and friends of equality to join us in supporting Valerie Vainieri Huttle for State Senate in LD 37.
Weinberg’s retiring? I hadn’t heard. How many state pensions will she have?
