Ocean County GOP leader George Gilmore, convicted on federal  tax charges last week, as expected today resigned as chairman of the county’s Republican organization.

This from the APP: “Gilmore submitted his letter of resignation to the organization, effective at 4 p.m. Wednesday. The GOP organization’s vice chairwoman, Barbara Lanuto, will take over as acting chair until an election is held to determine Gilmore’s successor.”
