Greaves Hails Passage of S-1567 out of Senate Budget Committee

ATU and Senator Loretta Weinberg partnered with transit advocates to introduce legislation that could help save New Jersey’s commuters thousands of dollars.

S-1567 cleared the Senate Budget Committee Hearing Tuesday in Trenton and is on its way to the full Senate on Thursday where the ATU anticipates the Commuter Tax Credit bill will be approved.

Ray Greaves, chairman of the ATU NJ State Council, applauded Senator Weinberg’s leadership and for standing up for NJ’s commuters who pay some of the highest mass transit fares in the nation.

“The goal of the ATU is to work with elected leaders to find ways of making commuting by mass transit more affordable and convenient so we can get people off our already congested roads,” said Greaves. “Passage of this legislation will  make mass transit usage more attractive, helping us alleviate congestion and improve our environment.”
