Greenwald Decries Trump’s ‘Heartless Attacks’ Against Fallen Soldier Families

At a campaign event in Collingswood this morning, Assembly Majority Leader Lou Greenwald (D-6) embraced Gold Star father Khizr Khan, the object of a 2016 counterattack by then-Republican presidential candidate Donald J. Trump.

“We are to stand with Mr. Khan to say that these heartless attacks from President Trump against families of fallen soldiers are as low as it gets,’ Greenwald said. “We are committed to honoring families like Mr. Khan’s for their debt to our nation.”

Khan lost his son, Army Captain Humayun Khan, to the Iraq War, and spoke at the Democratic National Convention last year in defense of Muslim Americans after candidate Trump called for a Muslim travel ban.

In the first general election cycle since Khan’s preferred candidate, Hillary Clinton, lost to Trump, Khan is stumping today in New Jersey for Democrats.
