Grewal Says OPIA Review Finds no Evidence that Suarez Acted Improperly in Brennan/Alvarez Case

In a Tuesday letter to legislative leadership, Attorney General Gurbir Grewal said an Office of Public Integrity and Accountability review found no evidence that Hudson County Prosecutor Esther Suarez acted improperly when her office handled Katie Brennan’s accusations of sexual assault  against Al Alvarez.

At this time, the Middlesex County Prosecutor’s Office is re-examining that underlying Brennan-Alvarez case.

But Grewal maintains that as it pertains to the job duties of the Hudson Prosecutor, the OPIA review “obviates the need for legislative inquiry.”

“According to all those interviewed, the prosecutor had no involvement in the manner in which the investigation was conducted,” wrote Grewal ahead of next week’s scheduled select committee on investigations hearing.

  1. As she knew both parties, the case should never have been handled by her office. But, of course, there’s nothing to se here. Keep moving.
