Gun Violence Prevention Groups to Hold Friday Vigil, Rally in JC

Students Demand Action, Moms Demand Action, Hudson Partnership CMO, and Jersey City Anti-Violence Coalition will host candlelight vigil outside Jersey City City Hall to honor and remember the victims of Tuesday’s mass shooting.

WHERE: City Hall Annex 1 Jackson Square Jersey City, NJ 07302

WHAT: After the horrific mass shooting in the Greenville area of Jersey City that left six dead and
three injured, anti-violence organizations from around the city are holding a candlelight vigil to honor
the survivors and remember the victims. They will also call on the Senate to take action by
introducing HR8 to the floor, a bill that requiring background checks on all gun sales, but has been stalled for months after passing the House. Additionally, they will call on the press to provide more balanced reporting of the south side of Jersey City, where shootings are extremely common, yet rarely receive news coverage. These anti-violence organizations invite the community to unify in paying respect to the victims, and to draw attention to the gun violence epidemic in our country, our state, and Jersey City which has one of the highest rates of homicide in New Jersey.
