Guv Candidate Sweeney Unveils New Ad: 'Hands'

Sweeney approaches the stage for Tuesday's keynote address.
Today, Steve Sweeney is launching a new ad entitled “Hands,” which highlights his working-class roots coming from a family of union ironworkers and his commitment to ensuring that everyone – from workers to seniors – gets their fair share. New Jersey needs a strong leader who understands the challenges working- and middle-class families face and who will stand with them every step of the way.

“Hands” is part of a seven-figure ad buy and marks the campaign’s first purchase on broadcast television. It is the fifth ad of the cycle, following previous spots that introduced Steve as a candidate and addressed key issues like affordability, public safety, and health care – reinforcing his proven track record as a legislator and his vision to improve life for all New Jerseyans as the state’s next governor. The ad will also run on digital and streaming platforms.

Narrator: New Jersey’s strength comes from people who work with their hands. This is Steve Sweeney. His father was an ironworker, so he was an ironworker – using his hands to work on bridges like this one. Sweeney ran for office to help working people get our fair share, used his power to raise the minimum wage and cut taxes for seniors.

Ironworker: Steve, just keep fighting for us, okay?

Steve Sweeney: Trenton has plenty of lawyers, I’m running for governor to look out for people who work with their hands.
