In Hackensack, Labrosse Takes Oath as Mayor

In Hackensack, the winning Labrosse Team for Lower Taxes and Honest Government members took their oaths of office at the city’s reorganization meeting this afternoon.

Kathleen Canestrino, David Sims and Leonardo Battaglia were elected to their second terms and are joined by Stephanie Von Rudenborg who was elected to her first term.

The Council chose Labrosse to continue serving as Mayor.

“John is a man of great integrity and an excellent mayor,” said Deputy Mayor Canestrino. “We have great confidence in his ability to lead our city.”

Kathy Canestrino and David Sims were then chosen to serve as Deputy Mayors. Canestrino will serve her second four year term as Deputy Mayor, and Sims will serve in the newly created position of Second Deputy Mayor with primary responsibility for Parks and Recreation.

“As a retired aerospace engineer, Kathy brings a unique set of skills and ability that our city is lucky to have,” said Labrosse. “She is our administration’s point person on economic development and fiscal issues and she does an outstanding job for the city.  We are building new recreational facilities and adding new programs and we think it’s important to have someone who really knows our recreation program inside and out making sure things are done right. Dave Sims is very qualified and we are very pleased he has decided to accept this position.”
